I know that the plastic straw movement is just one piece of the puzzle. Still I'd like to do my part and switch to a more sustainable straw in my household. Do you guys have any recommendations for non-plastic alternatives @Fia @"haggerty.benjami"?
Steel Straws seem to be a common "go to" for household use, and in some cases commercial use. Washable and all but indestructible these are stainless steel and should last a lifetime. Far more likely found at a commercial level are the "corn starch" single use alternative. These are purported to be made from biodegradable / compostable materials, and thus not a landfill concern. Eco Products is one supplier of note for both single use straws, as well as cups, but hunt around and check out what is out there. Happy hunting.
We went with these gold metal straws from Amazon https://amzn.to/2Dg6HtZ . They are dishwasher safe and look great both on the bar and in a cocktail. We've gotten a few compliments on them too from friends. At first, it's a bit weird drinking from metal but I got used to it fast and honestly like it more than traditional straws now.
Thats awesome! And thanks for sharing the "resource source"! That's how we all win, when we share what we find! Thanks again and keep the great ideas coming!
I love the steel straws as well since they are infinitely reusable, but sometimes there is a need for paper straws. In those situations, Aardvark Straws come highly recommended. They're made in the USA and FDA food grade compliant.

I'm personally not a huge fan of steel straws. Another alternative that I really enjoy are the Tervis re-usable plastic straws.

I too was recently looking for metal straws and ended up getting these. They were perfect because they didn't have any taste or smell to them, which is great if you're trying not to add anything else into your drink!
