About

The Community of the Transfiguration is a religious order founded in 1988 in the Anglican/Episcopal tradition. Our ministries include Bethany School, the Transfiguration Spirituality Center and other guest accommodations, St. Monica’s Recreation Center, located in Lincoln Heights and our newest ministry, Food for the Soul.

Our ministries engage in a variety of green efforts, lead by our Full-time Sustainability and Stewardship Coordinator: Our K - 8 LEED-platinum certified school buildings are the most energy efficient school in the Midwest, and we integrate sustainability curriculum throughout the grades and offer Eco clubs and camps for students; Our integrated waste management plans strive to incorporate recycling and commercial composting to reduce waste; And our grounds are maintained with eco-friendly products, sustainable practices and attention to native landscaping, (including bioswales, rain gardens and bio retention ponds as a green infrastructure approach to stormwater runoff). We continue to seek and implement steps to care for the Earth and its human and nonhuman inhabitants, combat the climate crisis and advocate for environmental justice.
