The Athenaeum is dedicated to celebrating artists in the DC/MD/VA region and maintaining our historic building as a vital asset to the community.
The Athenaeum is home to the Northern Virginia Fine Arts Association (NVFAA), a membership organization dedicated to the maintenance and preservation of the building and the celebration of regional arts.
The Athenaeum Gallery mounts a wide range of exhibitions from edgy to classic, representing a wide range of media and style. Concerts, dance performances, and literary events including poetry slams are staged in the stately main room. Classes such as yoga and ballet occur on the gleaming pine floors. We strive to make every visit interesting.
